Wake up amused with the "Yo General" (or "Yo Taisho") novelty alarm clock by Citizen (produced by Rhythm). It was released in Japan in the early 1990s when Rhythm's Speak-Up alarm clocks were starting to take off. Similar to the other Speak-Ups, "Yo General" has a very distinctive alarm sound. I don't know much about the character himself, but he says, "Yo! Boss, please wake up!" in Japanese over and over again until you turn him off. It would be a great addition to a collection of Speak-Up alarm clocks!
Notes: The clock and alarm both work great, although I’m not totally sure what it says. It has two volume settings (minimum and maximum), and the snooze button is his right hand. The clock is in pretty decent condition although there are a few small scuffs. It does have the original battery cover, too.
The second hands on Rhythm's vintage Speak-Up alarm clocks are very fragile, and they very commonly come off during shipping. Out of all of these alarm clocks in my personal collection, over half of the second hands have come off at some point during transport...this is no joke, unfortunately. Please understand that although I have secured it, this still may happen, even with all of the bubble wrap and protective packaging that I use. Thank you very much!
